Watch out – the cold is about

Just when we thought we’d escaped with a relatively mild winter, the cold has returned with a vengeance.

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has urged motorists to take extra care on the roads over the next few days in order to avoid accidents, as weather conditions are set to be difficult.

Their warning comes as the country faces freezing temperatures and forecasts of rain, sleet and snow which will lead to icy surfaces.

In addition to this, the RSA says that strong easterly winds could be a danger to road users and freezing fog could drastically reduce visibility.

Life Insurance For Us Old Folks!

I turned 59 the other day and boy am I glad I already have my life insurance in force. Ive heard that life insurance over 60 really takes a huge jump. But wait, I heard the same thing about over 50 life insurance and that wasnt exactly true.

The absolute truth about that urban legend is that there is no magic age, one particular birthday, where life insurance rates take a leap of the unrecoverable edge. Now I can tell you that there is some sticker shock when you buy a 10 year term when youre 54 and then want a new one when youre 64. Even if your health is still good, age is not your friend.

How Health Savings Accounts Boost Health Care And Tax Savings

Health Savings Account plan holders have until April 17, 2012 to make a full contribution to their Health Savings Accounts. Since contributions are tax deductible, this will significantly reduce yuor taxes by thousands of dollars.

The maximum 2011 Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution is $3,050 for individuals and $6,150 for families. An additional $1,000 catch-up contribution can be made for individuals who are 55 or older. In 2012, tax-deductible HSA contributions have been raised by the IRS to $3,100 for individuals and $6,250 for families.
